5 Reasons I am Excited to Go to NYC

by Elena on September 20, 2012 in Travel

Social Good. Social Action.  It is a major part of what I do and who I am.  This Friday, I will be on my way to New York City to attend the Social Good Summit as part of my role as a UN Foundation Social Good Fellow. I cannot wait to share everything I learned and experienced with you…but today I am going to be honest with you.

Above and beyond my excitement for the event itself,  I find myself becoming giddy with excitement about my three and a half days in New York City. It is not as if I have not been to New York recently. But somehow every time I go, I leave wishing that I had more time. Yes, I could live there (Rocket on the other hand, could never ever, ever, ever live there).

Why I can't wait to go to New York City | Ciao Mom

This trip promises to be so many things…for so many reasons. But five non Social Good Summit reasons have me very excited.

  1. I love taking the train to New York City. I will be taking the Acela and am looking forward to a few hours of getting work done.
  2. The Hotel Wales, where we are staying is located on the Upper East Side of the city….a neighborhood that I have not had the chance to get to know. Although we will be busy, we do have a mid morning break each day, and I am excited to to explore as much as I can in that time.
  3. The hotel is also close to Central Park. Yes it will mean getting up {very} early. Yes, I am going to do it. Not running in Central Park is NOT an option.  I cannot be that close and not do it. (on top of which, my half marathon is now only 4 weeks away and I must, must, must run).
  4. I will have the chance to spend time with the some of the other fabulous Social Good Fellows that helped make Blogust the most impacting social media campaign I have ever been a part of.
  5. Being in New York City in the fall. Need I say more?

One of these days maybe I will even go to New York City without any scheduled events so that I can just enjoy… explore… and savor. But for now, I will look forward to my three and a half days. Soaking up the atmosphere at the Social Good Summit and making the most out of every minute I can in the city that never sleeps.

What about you? What city makes you giddy before visiting?

Ciao Mom

Isn’t NYC the best! I toured it last year during summer and I had a blast during my stay there. I am looking forward to visiting it, soon.
