It is no secret that I love all things Wii dance related. Dancing video games are great for family time as well as with friends. I may or may not get very competitive when I play with friends, especially at blogging conferences, but for the most part, dancing together means laughing together. And I am all for laughing.
This time, we had the chance to invite some in real life friends and neighbors over to get our groove on with Abba You Can Dance. We are an Abba loving family, with even Principessa knowing most of the Mamma Mia soundtrack.
An Abba dance party though? Requires special preparation.
Preparing for an Abba You Can Dance Party
What would a 70’s party be without fondue? And much to my surprise, I found pre-made fondue at Costco. I cannot really think of anything that Costco does NOT carry….but I could pass up this cheese in a box find!
Then of course, you need to set the mood.
We are talking 70’s after all.
Last but not least, there must be dancing. Lots of dancing.
Watching some of our manly man dancers express their classical dancer personalities was um…funny. Also, talk about an arm and leg workout. Dance to “Winner Takes it All” enough times and you might even develop a ballerina body.
All the classics make the 26 song playlist….favorites like Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Does Your Mother Know, and Take a Chance on Me. You can dance, you can perform in a mini musical, and there is even a karaoke option.
The most appealing part of this game, in comparison to it’s Ubisoft Just Dance relatives (which I also love), is that these are songs that we all know. They make you want to sing and dance….and the moves, although the maybe less complicated because they are more “classical” fool you into thinking that you are not half bad on the dance floor!
