Principessa has a fascination with scotch tape. Seriously. The child uses more tape than anyone I know. She has used more scotch tape in the last six weeks than I have in the last five years. I really should probably go buy stock in the company at the rate she is going.
Over the last few months she has made houses, a boat, and random other assorted means of transportation and communication Not to be outdone by her previous feats of creation, innovation, and scotch tape masterpieces, she set to work on a new project last week.
A helicopter. But not just any helicopter. A helicopter with a “search tower”.
Helicopter & Search Tower. Notice the scotch tape, affixing the tower to the hard wood floor. The helicopter even comes equipped with a ladder to climb aboard.
And what would a “search tower” be without an airport?
Prinicpessa International Airport, built with persistence and of course, scotch tape. The figures drawn? Those would be people in the airport. An iHop waitress, people waiting in line, and on the right (not seen here) couches and chairs for fliers to wait for their flights.
Do not get me wrong. I love that she is using her imagination and creating masterpiece after masterpiece. The only issue is that pretty soon, we are going to run out of space to house all of these scotch tape masterpieces.
Plus? I have a feeling this is only the tip of the iceberg. Because my lovely parents….thought is best to buy ALL the colored construction paper at their local Costco for her upcoming birthday. You think I am kidding? We have an entire closet of hidden construction paper ready for it’s unveiling in one month.
I see colored paper adventures coming to a room near us very soon.

At least she’s using her imagination, right?
Those ARE masterpieces! The details on them are amazing. They really give a glimpse into your daughter’s mind. She’s quite the artisan, I must say.
Hmm… perhaps hanging some would provide more space?
She is so creative!!
She will love all of the coloured paper!
Wow, I see talent! You may have a mechanical engineer in your future. Or an architect?
wow, I adore her!!!!! She is so creative and fun. I want to come play with her. I want to sit next to her as she comes up with the NEXT PLAN.
Construction Paper and Tape….now THAT is an afternoon!!
xo
My sister made a seal once out of newspaper, scotch tape and garbage bags. There were copious tears when she had to get rid of the four foot monstrosity.
So I know exactly what you’re concerned about.
Proud of creativity, upset about the inevitable demise.
What a creative girl you have – awesome!!
I filled my 5yo’s stocking with scotch tape last year for Christmas! Literally I think I put in about 10 rolls. He was SO excited and I’m pretty sure they didn’t even last through mid-January!
She is incredibly creative! Future architect?? Just needs to work on her materials used.
It’s so funny the things they become obsessed with! My 8 year old went through a tape/paper creations stage last year. He has moved on to drawing comic strips : )
At least she’s got a great imagination!
We started down the scotch tape road but then it got stuck in hair… I think they’ve scared themselves away from it! ha!
Wow! So impressive and so, so creative! Love!
I feel your pain! We can NOT keep tape in this house. It doesn’t matter how much we buy, there is never any left when it’s time to wrap a present!
Ooooh…that’s a lot of construction paper! Maybe she’ll lose interest by then? Ha! I know…fat chance.
My son likes to draw. On one sheet of paper after another. And another. And another.
I feel your pain. I have to buy Scotch tape and hide it. I hide it so well, I forget where I put it. Guess it’s better than them playing video games all afternoon.
She has a great imagination! I have to admit…I am a Scotch tape-a-holic when it comes to presents. Everyone knows which gifts I wrapped! :/
Such creative paper sculptures!!
Wow, how creative is she!
