Have You Seen My It?

by Elena on August 1, 2012 in Inspiration

From the 2012 Olympics, to Pinterest, to the aisles in Whole Foods, we see reminders each day that tell us to “go for it.”

Finding our Focus | Ciao Mom

(a greeting card in Whole Foods)

People say it easily, like taking the lead is something that just about anyone can do.

And as I looked through the pictures from our trip to Italy I realized something.  All of these people that say it is easy. That say you just need to put one foot in front of the other. That say that you need to visualize where you want to be and how you will get there…..they are right.

It is a question of focus.  Of determination. Of commitment. Of knowing your purpose. When we are so clear on what “it” will look like, “it” is more likely to happen.

And the truth is, that fun as our trip to Italy was, as filled as it was with new experiences, new adventures, new memories…it was also hard.  Because my head was in so many places. I was thinking about my need to lose weight and feel healthier and stronger. I was thinking about my career transition and future as a freelancer. I was thinking about friendship, love, and health.  I had no focus.

Except that actually?  I did. Or at least, I did through the lens of my camera.

I found it in nature.

I found it in architecture.

I think that I even found it in me.

I am closer to being able to visualize what it looks like and how I will get there.  I am no longer looking behind the clouds for my it. I am no longer making excuses about the lack of my it. With a few deep breathes, and a great many baby steps in a forward direction…I believe that I may have finally found it.

What about you…Have you seen your It lately?

I needed this today. I feel like my “it” is so ellusive, I can’t seem to get a clear grasp of it.

I love this. Thank you. I need to find “it”, and I may have recently gotten a step or two closer. Little, tiny steps, but still :)

so funny – I recently wrote a post about your “it” and what your “it” is today – probably isn’t the same as 2 years ago. . .I think I know what “it” is – or at least my “it” right now =)
