Yes. It is true. I was one of the 3600 people congregated in San Diego for BlogHer. And while I am not going to get in to the details of the conference quite yet, there is one thing for certain about BlogHer. It is EXHAUSTING. It is go, go, go all day and all night. There are sessions, and people to meet, parties, and networking. Forget exploring the beautiful city around you, one goes into survival mode trying to find five minute here or there to sit and read or have quiet time amidst the hustle and bustle.
That being said, I am now two weeks away from my Iron Girl triathlon. So there were no choice for me but to make my working out a priority. Finding the motivation to get up early, as in 5:30 am, was not easy. Especially as the days wore on.
The first morning there was easy to get up since I was on east coast time. I had already laid out my bathing suit and goggles and off I went for a swim.
The second day was relatively easy if nothing else because I knew I was going to see people like @Chimomwriter, @kpugs, @sellabitmum and @mommy_pants. If that was not incentive enough, I was going to run as part of Team Amazeballs, led by the fabulous Andrea Fellman, To top off the morning, I even got to run most of the course with the fabulous Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea of Run Like a Mother (until I realized that their long legs had us at a pace that I was managing, but just barely).
The end result was a great morning run (although ok, not a true 5k) and….in case I was not already excited about my Iron Girl coming up….I now have a reason to be even more excited. I met the brains behind Team Sparkle that morning…these ladies make running skirts that are…sparkly, and to die for. And guess who is ordering one for the triathlon? That would be me.
The third day on the other hand, was a bit harder to get excited about. Not that I was not excited to meet the ladies behind Fit Approach and Sweat Pink, but a 5:30 wake up to be ready for 6 am boot camp? After two nights of staying up late? The good news is that I did it. The bad news is that there were push ups and lunges, and squats. Followed by more of the same over and over again. And today, two days later? My legs….hurt. A lot. Oh and although I don’t have any pictures, there was a photographer getting each one of us in our glory as we did our pushups, lunges, and squats. Can’t wait to see those pics! (not so much).
All in all, I would call BlogHer a motivation success! No, it was not the second to last weekend push that my Iron Girl training might have warranted, but it was a push. And for that, I can smile (except for when I try to get up from sitting, my leg muscles are not smiling!).
PS: In case you have not checked it out, please take a peak at the new Just.Be.Enough. I am so excited to get the new site up and running, and starting next week will host a weekly link up called Be Enough Me.
