A change of scenery can do wonders for kicking your stress level to the curb.
I know this because after just one night away, for a local staycation family getaway, Rocket commented on how “relaxed” I seemed.
Which of course means that I was anything BUT relaxed in recent days. Or recent weeks. Or months.
I can’t wait to share about our fabulous trip to the Gaylord National Harbor in the coming days, but for today, it is the little things that I am going to focus on. The little things that when added up create a new found relaxation that is simply…transformative.
Little things like….
Putting on a soft bath robe while drinking a glass of wine (or champagne!).
Watching House Hunters International in the wee hours of the night.
Watching your child as they stare in awe at a fountain display.
Seeing boats on the water outside your window when you wake up.
Reading the Sunday newspaper without looking at the clock thinking about where you need to be or what else you should be doing.
Gardening with the family for an entire afternoon.
Realizing you are only THREE weeks away from being able to workout again. (well ok, almost three weeks. Three weeks and two days is close right?)
Little things. That when combined make all the difference.
What little things have helped you relax lately?

We’re planning a date night for this weekend! So the thought of that is relaxing
My MIL watched the kids one morning, and instead of all of my errands, I sat with coffee and wrote and then did a quick dash through the grocery store to get the absolute necessities.
Otherwise, not too much relaxing here
I loved that you relaxed, it’s one of the reasons that I don’t read blogs, tweet or FB if I don’t have to over the weekends anymore. I enjoy sleeping in or watching a movie with the boys, I nap, I shop, I don’t even look at my phone or my watch unless I have to….and I find that it’s helping , just a little bit, to relax me too.
I love that picture, you can just feel the EASE. xo
Relaxing, that sounds so good. My hubby and I got away one night for our anniversary. One night without the kids. It made us both feel so much better. That was months ago now. I’m thinking I might try slipping the idea of a babysister in so we can sneak out for a child free dinner or even coffee. Good for you for taking the time to do it.
Oh, I live for the day that I can read the Sunday newspaper without looking at the clock thinking about where I need to be or what else I should be doing. That sounds glorious!
P.S. I love you text above where you leave a comment (starting with I love, love, love your comments!) What a great way to thank people for the time they take to comment!
It was really heavenly. truly.
