As the non crafty parent to a very crafty child, I am always looking for opportunities to foster Principessa's interest in ways that are engaging and meaningful. So whenever I find something that combines her love of crafts with an other areas of interest, I know better than to miss out.
Which is why I am so excited that GapKids is joining forces with designer Merrilee Liddiard of Mer Mag to foster creativity and crafty fashion in kids as they prepare to go back to a new school year.
GapKids (and Baby Gap before Principessa was old enough) are a staple of our back to school (and during the school year) shopping with outfits that are fashionable and yet appropriate for the wear and tear of an almost eight year old girl that is always in motion. During the Shine On Saturday events, children will participate in projects that were inspired by the GapKids and babyGap fall collection, (including the best new 1969 denim: Jewel Box Skinnies for girls and Action Stretch Denim for boys). From creating geometric masterpieces on canvas using paint and tape to colorful, custom journals to get kids ready for back-to-school, the projects help kids express their creativity!
The project on Saturday, August 25th is to make an animal character badge at these participating Gap stores (from 10am-1pm):

Fun idea to combine fashion and crafts. I hope that Gap expands this program to more stores soon.
