After a month of almost daily gelato for my daughter while traveling through Italy, and as I try to take back control over my own eating, fitness, and health I have been on the lookout for ways to enjoy treats without OVER indulging.
Chocolate is a big part of our family culture, but so is staying healthy. Having grown up with insecurities about my weight and dealing with yo-yo like numbers on the scale and in my closet, I try to model making healthy choices and the idea of everything in moderation to my almost eight year old daughter.
So I was thrilled when I found a recipe for The Nutty Chocolate Kiss on the Silkology Facebook page(Silkology: combining the art of mixology with the delicious flavors of Silk).

First of all, the recipe has Nutella in it. So no matter what, it could not be bad. Then there is a banana…which helps fill you and give you the fabulous vitamins and minerals like Potassium. Since my focus is to enjoy treats in moderation, we took the recipe for one portion and doubled it, and shared it as an after dinner dessert shared by three of us.

The result was a tasty and cool summer time treat that we will make again. Maybe as an afternoon snack. Maybe for playdates or gatherings of our friends. Maybe even with a few extra liquid ingredients for the adult crowd.
Silk inspired me to think outside of the bowl with their new Silkology-inspired drink recipes. How can you reinvent YOUR favorite summertime gathering?
