The Thin to Win Challenge: Taking Stress Out at the Gym

by Elena on May 15, 2012 in Fitness

Have you ever tried to thin out your life? What does that even mean exactly?

For some it means organizing cluttered closets or pantries. For others it might mean slimming down the ingredients in their meals. Maybe it means getting organized with meal planning to maximize time during the week or making “me” time to drown out all the superfluous noise that tends to overwhelm our day to day activities.

Thin to Win Fitness Goal Challenge | Ciao Mom

Thinning, simplifying, taking back time for ourselves. Those things make us FEEL GOOD.

Sargento is challenging us, for 45 days to simplify our lives with their thin to win challenge. Each day a new challenge is posted in Sargento’s Facebook page, where challengers can share their success for a chance to win a variety of prizes.

Today’s challenge is to “After a long work day, take some stress out at the gym! Create a fitness goal and share it with us.”

Which of course, is what I strive for each day now that I am back to working out after surgery in March. The how of taking stress out with a workout is the crux of the challenge, and the thing that trips me up on days where there is so much to do.

My fitness goal is to get my sweat in for at least 30 minutes four times this week. The truth is that 30 minutes is not a lot, but during weeks like this one, where I have deadlines and to do lists, 30 minutes is realistic, attainable, and better than nothing.

Yesterday, I knew that my day was tight, I knew that a treadmill walk/run was unlikely. So instead of giving in so early in the week, I turned to my Xbox and Just Dance 3 for 30 minutes of dancing. In case you are wondering, yes…30 minutes of Just Dance 3 is a fabulous cardio workout. Today, knowing that the rain and wet soccer fields mean that I will “earn” some time back in my day, I will catch up on The Big C for an interval walk/run workout on the treadmill. Wednesday will be another treadmill day adding in a few incline intervals to my routine, and Thursday will be a day of XBox Your Shape Fitness Evolved cardio kick boxing and ab work.

So…what about you? How will you take the stress out with a fitness goal? Share it here or better yet, share it on Sargento’s Facebook page for a chance to win daily prizes.

AND….stay tuned later next week when I share how I will use Sargento Ultra Thin Sliced Cheese to thin out some fabulous recipes (which at 45 calories or fewer….seriously is a win win for this cheese lover!)

Hi Elena. How are you? After a long break I’m back to your blog. I’m happy to see that you’re recovering from your surgery and started to workout. Carry on my friend.

Thanks for informing about Sargento’s gig!
