Things that Warm a Mother’s Heart

by Elena on December 13, 2011 in parenting

There are a many things that can warm a mother’s heart.  A hug, a kiss, that angelic smile. Even the breathing pattern that our children fall into as they sleep. Flowers, extra time to sleep in, a good massage, or you know….a new purse, the latest gadget, or maybe a tiny little jewel box.

But when you happen to be a mom that is also a teacher that loves to watch children enjoy reading and writing? Our hearts go pitter patter for other things as well.

Like finding your child surrounded by books when you go kiss your child goodnight.

Or being woken by a child giddy because they have just finished writing and illustrating a book about having broken their arm.  Signed at the back as “Mommy’s little Writer.”

Or having your child spend an afternoon pretending to be on a mission in search of clues.

So while I will not turn my nose at flowers, gadgets, purses, jewels, or extra long hugs, my heart is pretty warm right now.

Oooh such a smart girl you have, my friend! My mother in law is a retired teacher so she love seeing pictures of her grandson with a book and the likes :)

Aw, those pics warmed my heart too! My daughter’s about the same age as yours, and she also still writes by phonics. So, so adorable.

And that last pic, of “suspects” and “locations,” THAT was amazing!
